Finchden Manor is for sale

This is all from a copy of the sale brochure. It has been on the market since April 2000, originally at £1.2M, now down to £975,000.

These pages are all now scanned at 300dpi except for the site plan which is at 1200 dpi. That was so that you can all read the itty-bitty writing. As always, click on a picture to see a larger version of it (much larger in the case of maps). Most pages are under 1MB and will display in your browser.

The site

The original site has been divided into five main residential areas. See the site plan below. The green line is the FM that we all lived in. The shaded area is what is for sale now. It does not include the Pugin Hall, built in the early 19th century by the Godden family for Mrs Godden, a keen amateur operatic singer. Thus it doesn't include the dining room, Peacock room, Guildables etc.

If you look at the site plan you see:

  1. The dining room and hall form one property, Pugin Hall
  2. The Guildables room forms another, called The Old Brew House, complete with pond
  3. Mrs Hyde's bungalow forms another called Finchden Lodge
  4. Burt Hobbs, John Martin, Stables form four more houses called Priory Lodge, Little Finchden, The Mews Cottage, The Coach House
  5. The bulk of the old house, now for sale (£975,000), still called Finchden Manor
